- perform acromioplasty if the symptoms continue
- Average operation time – 30 minutes
- Duration of hospitalization – 2 days

+ Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
What is Total Shoulder Arthroplasty?
- Painful, worn shoulder joint is replaced with a new joint made from metal or plastic.
- Relieves shoulder joint pain caused by a shoulder condition or injury.
- Skin incision is made near the shoulder.
- Large muscles around the shoulder are pulled back and the rotator cuff is cut.
- Damaged shoulder joint is removed and replaced with an implant that looks very similar (a ball, socket, and stem parts)
- After inserting the implant, the rotator cuff, muscles, and skin are closed with stitches.

Hip joint, the largest joint in our body, consists of the top of femur and acetabulum of pelvis. Primary function of hip joint is to support the body during static and dynamic positions. Since it is very close to the waist, the pain can be confused with back pain. Severe lesion causes serious pain affecting daily living. |
+ Avascular necrosis of the femoral head
It is destruction of the hip joint causedby the blockage of blood supply to the femoral head and the insufficient provision of oxygen and nutrients. It is frequently found among the active young and middle-aged adults at the age between 30~59.
Causes of Avascular necrosis of the femoral head
- Overuse of steroid
- Aftereffects of hip joint fracture and dislocation by trauma
- Excessive drinking
- Pain in the groin when walking for a long time.
- Mild pain in the hip, waist and thighs.
- Severe lesion causes fractured femoral head and thus shortened(1-2cm) leg, causing the patient to limp

Treatments of Avascular necrosis of the femoral head We provide drug treatment or non-surgical treatment in the initial stage. However, the prognosis of the non-surgical treatment has been reported to b not good for the case with a severe lesion. At our hospital, we perform selective and customized surgery, considering the severity of the necrosis and the patient’s age. |

■ Artificial Joint Replacement
Damaged hip joint is removed and an artificial joint made of special metal and ceramic
■ Depressurization of the core, multiple drilling
For the avascular necrosis in theinitial stage. Prevents the progress of the disease or promotes the regeneration of the blood stream in the necrosis region.
Method:
- A minimum incision (about 0.5cm) to make a hole between the femoral intertrochanteric region and the femoral head.
- Eliminate necrosis by accurately checking the lesion using an arthroscope.
- Joint drilling and autogenous bone graft along the necrosis region.
- Surgery takes about 10-20 minutes.
- Patient’s bone is maintained as much as possible.
- The wound is rapidly recovered and the duration of hospitalization is short.
The diagnosis and surgical treatment are performed stimultanously by monitoring the ligaments and cartilages inside the joint, the deformation of the synovial membrane surrounding the joint or the damage on the cartilage.
Method:
- A thin and long arthroscope (diameter: 4.5mm) is inserted to the hip joint.
- A micro-sized camera andother laser surgical instruments are installed for the diagnosis and treatment.
